SYRF the Web

syrf.org screen shotThat's right...SYRF.org has an entirely new look and many new features.  We have been hard at work to update our website and it is finally ready for you to check out.

Stop by www.syrf.org and experience our new online community, a special place to show off photos from SYRF events you've planned, and much more.  You can use the online chat feature to message other pro-choice pro-faith young people across the country or create a group to share ideas with SYRF activists at your school or in your city.  Don't forget to build your own profile so you can fully benefit from the new features on our site!

We'll be adding tons of new content and features in the coming months (including a way to link your profile on SYRF.org to your Facebook profile), and are eager to hear what you think of what we've got so far.  If you have thoughts on the site, e-mail us or send us a note on the 'site feedback' message board.

National Black Religious Summit and YOU
BCI logoIn a few short months, RCRC will host our 12th annual National Black Religious Summit on Sexuality.  The Summit will take place from July 9 to 11, 2008 at the Howard University School of Divinity in Washington, DC. SYRFers of all faith traditions are welcome and encouraged to join us for this historic gathering.

The speaker line up for the 2008 Summit is fantastic--including Reverend Kenneth Samuel, Reverend Edwin Clifton Sanders II, and Reverend Jeremiah A. Wright Jr.  Visit the Summit website to learn more about the program.

We are offering a SPECIAL discount for young adults this year.  If you are a SYRF activist (between the ages of 16 and 30), you can register for free (a $75.00 value)! Just visit the online registration page and enter "SYRF" on the first page when asked for a conference code.  Contact us with questions.

SYRFs Up!

Whoa!  We have been working on so many exciting projects here in the SYRF shop, it was tough to choose what to feature in this edition of the SYRForecast. Have no fear, I saved some of the good stuff for our next edition so you won't get bored.

I hope you'll take some time to peruse (yes, I sad peruse) our new website because it is really fantastic. (I am not biased or anything.) I can't wait to log on and chat with you and see the fun things you post to your profiles...so be sure to add me as a friend!

In addition, I am SO excited about this year's National Black Religious Summit.  I can feel the energy around our office as we gear up for the big event--please take a look at your calendar and let  us know if you can make it (July 9 to 11).  Remember, young adults get free registration!

See you at the Summit,
Emily

Second Annual SYRF Soiree

bannerWe'll be hosting the second annual SYRF Soiree in Washington, DC on June 16!  Join us from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at Vinoteca in DC's historic U Street neighborhood. Interns, young professionals, students, and other young adults are invited to join us for drinks and appetizers. Stop by to learn about our program and ways to get involved in the spiritual pro-choice movement. We'll debut a top secret project we've been working on so you won't want to miss it.  You must RSVP to attend.  The event is free, so invite your friends!

Join us at the Conventions!

The Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice is looking for enthusiastic young people to help with our visibility efforts at the Democratic National Convention (Denver, CO, August 25-28) and the Republican National Convention (Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN, September 1-4) this summer!  Hotel space is tight, so if you have a place to stay in either of those cities--all the better.  Contact us if you're interested in helping out.
