SYRFs Up!
It's that busy summer conference season again! Keep your eyes peeled for representatives from the Religious Coalition at the Unitarian Universalist, United Church of Christ, Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), and Episcopal Church gatherings this summer. We'll be the ones with the giant RCRC banner at the booth (fitting, we know).  I will also be attending the National Campus Ministry Association conference and would love to meet any SYRFers in the Cleveland area for a coffee or ice cream outing while I'm in town.

We're also jumping into the world of Twitter with both feet.  If you're using Twitter, consider following the SYRF Twitter feed.  We've also included links to the other social networking tools we participate in at the bottom of this e-mail.  We're publicizing lots of ways to get involved with our program and other exciting reproductive justice focused work and would love to see your smiling faces on our list of followers!

Happy almost June,
Emily

National Black Religious Summit on Sexuality
The thirteenth annual National Black Religious Summit on Sexuality will be held July 8-10 at the Howard University School of Divinity in Washington, DC. This year's theme is "The Church in a Changing World."

Since 1996, RCRC has worked to reduce the high rates of unintended pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases in the African American community through the National Black Church Initiative and the annual National Black Religious Summit on Sexuality.
Cheeseheads for Sex Ed!
Do you care about SEX ED? Do you live in WISCONSIN?

If YOU, your friends, your family, your former next door neighbor, your sister's massage therapist, your basket weaving instructor, the friend you made at last week's Indigo Girl's concert, your twitter followers, or someone else you know lives in Congressman Dave Obey's district, we NEED your help! Forward this note and ask folks to contact us by e-mail.

We're looking for SYRFers who live in Congressman Dave Obey's district to let him know we want an end to abstinence-only programs and to ensure funding for comprehensive sex education. The voices of people living in the district are most important...

You could influence sex education nationally by helping us find folks in these counties...a small way to make a really BIG change.

Responsible Education About Life Act
Summit Banner If you've advocated for honest, comprehensive sexuality education before (or even if you haven't), we need to enlist your help once again. The Responsible Education About Life (REAL) Act has been reintroduced and it is time to get to work encouraging our elected officials to become co-sponsors.  We're amping up our People of Faith for REAL campaign and can't do it without you.

You've photographed yourself as a Sex Ed Superstar, perhaps you've even lobbied or made phone calls.  We're now asking you to send a quick e-mail to our Senators and encourage them to co-sponsor REAL.  It's all detailed here.  And we promise it won't take more than five minutes.
